The best step you can take right now is to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application, even if you are not sure you qualify. Completing it ensures that families who need extra support can access it, and it can also open the door to discounts for services such as athletics, technology, testing, and internet access. Completing the form is the safest way to make sure no family misses out. This INCLUDES Summer EBT benefits which may be available in the Summer of 2026.

Local Wellness Policy

Local Education Agencies (LEA) participating in the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program are required to develop a local school wellness policy that promotes the health of students. Wellness policies are tailored to the unique needs of each LEA and present an opportunity to improve the health of each community.

On July 29, 2016, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) finalized regulations to create a framework and guidelines for written wellness policies established by LEAs to begin developing a revised local school wellness policy during School Year 2016-2017. The revised policy was to be in place by June 30, 2017.   LEAs must conduct an assessment of the Local Wellness Policy (LWP) every three years, at a minimum.
