Welcome to the lunch program for secondary schools. This information sheet will help to answer the most frequently asked question about the lunch program that is offered in your building. Please click on a link below to view more information.

 

How does my child get lunch?

A lunch account is automatically setup for each child that is registered with the school district. Parents can decide if they want to use the account or not. Every student in the building will use their student ID number (Poweschool #) that will allow him or her to access their own food service account. If they want to use their account, they will punch in their ID number on the keypads located by each register. Students must have money in their account in order to use it. Credit is not allowed at the secondary level.

 

What are the lunch prices and how do I get a menu?

How do I make a deposit into the account?

You can send money (checks preferred) to school with your child or you can make a deposit online. If you are sending a deposit, please be sure to have your child's first/last name and the amount listed on the envelope or memo area of the check. Please be sure to send money with your student on the first day of school or make a deposit online. The envelope is to be dropped in the mail slot located on the kitchen door in the cafeteria or in the office. Online deposit information can be found on our website at www.jenhudfood.org. You will also need to pay all outstanding balances from your student’s elementary account before they can use their account at the secondary level. Money can be placed in their account at any time and for any amount. We recommend that you keep at least $5.00 in your student’s account. Students can not cash checks through food service.

 

How can I see what my child is purchasing?

You can do this by setting up an online account at www.sendmoneytoschool.com. There is no charge to setup an account to view activity. The only time a charge is assessed is if you make a deposit online. Instructions for setting up an online account can be found under Depositing Money on this webpage.

If you wish to restrict a particular activity on your student’s account, you must notify the food service department in writing to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and please be specific about the restriction. We are not able to restrict individual items but we can restrict dollar amounts for the day and the snack window as a whole.

 

How do I know how much money is in my child's account?

If you have an online account setup for your child at Sendmoneytoschool.com, you can check your balance on a daily basis. You can also set up a customized low balance email alert through this account. You will also get a low balance email through the district's SchoolMessenger system when your child's account is at $3.00 or less for full pay lunches or at $.80 for families that qualify for reduced lunches. Your child can also ask for their balance at the register. It is ultimately your responsibility to track your child's lunch balance.

 

If I don't pay online how do I get my child's account balance?

What if my child forgot their lunch and has no money in their account?

Your child has the option of trying to contact you through the office and if they are not able to reach someone, they will be offered a cheese sandwich, fruit/vegetable and a milk. We do not allow credit at the secondary level.

 

My child qualifies for free or reduced meals, what do they need to do?

Students who qualify for free or reduced meals will use their ID number for their lunch. Reduced lunches are $.40 per lunch and reduced breakfast is $.30 per breakfast and this money needs to be in their account. If your student wants to purchase additional items, they will need to have money in their hand or in their account. A reminder that a new Free/Reduced lunch application needs to be filled out each year. An application can be picked up at any building or you can apply online at www.Lunchapp.com.
